Una primera edición de 12,000 ejemplares será distribuida gratuitamente a partir de febrero de 2009 a los huéspedes de los hoteles de la cadena Eurostars en Europa, Estados Unidos, México y Argentina. Una segunda edición para venta al público llegará a librerías en marzo.
A first edition will be freely available from December 2008 to guests at the Eurostars Hotels in Europe, USA, México and Argentina. A second edition for sale will be on bookshops from February 2009.
Este libro obtuvo el IV Premio Eurostars de Narrativa de Viajes, concedido por la editorial RBA, por la Universitat de Barcelona y la cadena Eurostars (vean la historia aquí). Corresponde a la parte africana de la vuelta al mundo que realicé entre 2005 y 2007. Es una narración sobre mi experiencia al conocer a la gente de esos países del sur y el este del continente, contada con humor a veces y seriedad periodística en otras. Vida salvaje animal y experiencias urbanas, los problemas de África vistos desde la perspectiva de quienes no se dejan vencer por ellos y los tratan de resolver, los contrastes de la cuna de la humanidad: alegría y racismo, sida y calor humano.
This book won the Eurostars Travel Narrative Award 2008 (see the story here). It’s the African part of my 2005-07 round-the-world trip. It’s the narration of my travel experiences in the South and the East of the continent, told with humour as well as with a journalistic perspective. Wildlife and urban life, Africa’s problems seen by the people who stand up to them and try to solve them, the contrasts of the cradle of the human kind: joy and racism, aids and human warmth.
